Mrs. Janet V. Cox, 75, of LaHarpe, Illinois, passed away Thursday, December 15, 2011 at 5:33 AM in LaHarpe.

She was born on November 30, 1936 in Quincy, Illinois, the daughter of Virgil E. and Hazel D. Booher Poulter. On September 1, 1956 she married Charles L. Cox in Dallas City, Illinois.

Mrs. Cox worked at Klines Department Store in Macomb, Illinois for many years, was an aid at LaHarpe Elementary School and also was a courier for First State Bank of Illinois. She served as a volunteer at the Oak Lane Nursing and Rehab in Stronghurst for many years. She was a member of the LaHarpe American Legion Auxiliary and the Lomax Christian Church.

Surviving are her husband, 2 daughters, Teresa Cox of LaHarpe and Ann Logan of Carthage, Illinois, 2 sons, Mike (Lori) Cox of LaHarpe and Gene (Barbara) Cox of LaHarpe, 9 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, 4 brothers, Richard (Elsie) Poulter of Fort Madison, Iowa, Rodney (Shirley) Poulter of Liberty, Illinois, Dewayne (Rita) Poulter of Dallas City and Russell (Ellen) Poulter of Blandinsville, Illinois, and 4 sisters, Betty (Dale) Emery of Mendon, Illinois, Shirley (Stephen) Lieurance of Dallas City, Bonnie (Roy) Kershner of Good Hope, Illinois and Kay Thacker of Burlington, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by 1 sister, Dorothy Hoener, 4 brothers, Kenny, Francis, Gerald and Glenn Poulter and her parents.

Services will be held at 10:30 AM Monday, December 19, 2011 at the Lomax Christian Church with Rev. Peggy Stott officiating. Burial will be in the Crane Cemetery near Lomax at a later date. Friends may call after 3:00 PM Sunday at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe where the family will meet with friends from 5:00 until 8:00 PM Sunday. A memorial fund has been established for the Lomax Christian Church.
