Mrs. Janet Irene Brown, 73, of LaHarpe, Illinois passed away Sunday, January 10, 2010 at 11:50 A.M. at her home.

She was born March 13, 1936 in Russell, Iowa, the daughter of Hugh P. and Audrey Marie Perkins Harding. On July 23, 1955 she married Harold E. Brown in Stronghurst, Illinois. He preceded her in death on March 2, 2009.

Mrs. Brown worked for Sylvania in Burlington, Iowa and later for NTN Bower in Macomb, Illinois. She enjoyed bowling, crossword puzzles and playing cards.

Surviving are one daughter, Lana Watson of Des Moines, Iowa, two sons, Larry Brown of LaHarpe and Darren Brown of Lewistown, Illinois, eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, one brother, Paul Harding of Blandinsville, Illinois and two sisters, Mary Lou Allen of Macomb, Illinois and Nawanda Mehaffey of Burlington, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her husband, one sister, Dora Farguson and her parents.

Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, January 14, 2010 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe with Harry Miller officiating. Burial will be in LaHarpe Cemetery. Friends may call after 3:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home where the family will meet with friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Wednesday. A memorial fund has been established for the Blessing Hospice of Hancock County or the LaHarpe-Davier Health Care Center.
