Mr. James A. Sutton, 61, of Dallas City, Illinois passed away Thursday, July 24, 2008 at 3:30 P.M. at his home.

He was born June 13, 1947 in LaHarpe, Illinois, the son of Gail and Mildred Topsy Kemp Sutton. On August 5, 1979 he married Sandra K. (Parsons) Lenix in Dallas City.
Mr. Sutton graduated in 1965 from the Dallas City High School. In 1967 he enlisted in the US Army and served in Vietnam. He was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. He worked at Fox Appliance in Burlington and then worked at J.I. Case Co. in Burlington for 30 years, retiring in 2002. He enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, fishing and mushroom hunting and was involved with the Ducks Unlimited. He liked collecting hats and zippo lighters.
He was a lifetime member of the Carthage VFW, member of the Dallas City American Legion Post 0297 and the Ideal Hunting and Fishing Club of Dallas City. He was a fan of the Chicago Cubs and Bears and enjoyed Nascar.

He is survived by his wife, his mother Mildred Topsy Sutton of Lomax, Illinois two sons, Ron (Steph) Knoedler and Jay (Laura) Lenix all of St. Louis, Missouri, three daughters, Rachelle (Mark) Shuler of Hamilton, Illinois, Samantha Ross of Fort Bragg, North Carolina and Jill Sutton of Terre Haute, Illinois, 8 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, one sister, Sandra (Gene) Schertz of Lomax, Illinois, one brother, Terry (Judy) Sutton of Hamilton, Illinois and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father.

Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, July 28, 2008 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City with Rev. Doug Clark officiating. Burial, with Military Rites, will be in the McConnell Cemetery near Fountain Green, Illinois. There will be no formal family visitation, but friends may call at the funeral home Sunday between 3:00 and 6:00 P.M. A memorial fund has been established for the Dallas City Veterans Memorial.
