Mr. James E. Seigfried, 80, of Pontoosuc, Illinois passed away Thursday, April 14, 2011 at 5:10 AM at his home.

He was born February 15, 1931 in Pontoosuc, the son of Wilbur Bud and Odessa Townsend Seigfried. On October 25, 1958 he married Carol Jane Reed in Denmark, Iowa. She preceded him in death on April 5, 1997.

He was a graduate of Dallas City High School. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a commercial fisherman, retiring in 1993. He loved music and played the bass and guitar. He gave guitar lessons and played in bands. He was a member of the Pontoosuc Community Church.

Surviving are one son Tim Seigfried of Pontoosuc, 2 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild and 1 sister, Norma Lee Young of Pontoosuc. He was preceded in death by his wife and parents.

Following cremation, graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at the Myers Cemetery, near Pontoosuc with Pastor Algie Peterson officiating. A memorial fund has been established. Banks & Beals Funeral Home, Dallas City is assisting with arrangements.
