Obituary

Mr. James A. McClanahan, 73, of Fountain Green, Illinois passed away Friday, October 8, 2010 at 11:15 PM in Fountain Green at the home of Richard and Carla Yelton, where he had resided the past few weeks, do to poor health.

He was born September 23, 1937 in Carthage, Illinois, the son of Clarence Newton and Leota Grace Londrie McClanahan.

He worked as an auto mechanic for Leroy Minneman in LaHarpe and for Squires Auto Sales and Salvage in Fountain Green. Earlier in life he sold Kirby Vacuums and received an award for being top salesman.

He is survived by one daughter, Jana Barnes of Spiro, Oklahoma, three sons, Jimmy McClanahan of Monmouth, Illinois, Todd McClanahan and Donnie McClanahan of Burlington, Iowa, seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one sister, Mary Klinedinst of LaHarpe.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Richard McClanahan, one sister, Dorothy Stinz and one daughter, Kathy Rabenau.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, October 14, 2010 at Moss Ridge Cemetery in Carthage, Illinois with Robert Tillman officiating. Friends may call at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe on Wednesday between 3:00 and 8:00 P.M. A memorial fund has been established for the McDonough District Hospital Hospice.
