James D. Rogers

James D. Jim Rogers Jr. age 67 of rural Lomax, Illinois died at 5:05 a.m. Monday December 23, 2013 at his home.

He was born April 9, 1946 in Quincy, Illinois, the son of James D. and Eula Barker Rogers Sr. On January 25, 1969, he married Kathleen Haas in Nauvoo, Illinois.

Jim was a 1964 graduate of LaHarpe High School. He farmed near Lomax and was a truck driver for many years. For the past seventeen years, Jim and his family operated the Rogers Pumpkin Farm, giving tours of the pumpkin patch, hayrack rides and corn maze each fall, providing enjoyment for area families. He was a former 4-H leader for the Terre Haute Superstars, had served as trustee of the Dallas City Fire District, and was formerly the Lomax Township Road Commissioner.

Survivors include his wife, one daughter- Sara Krow of Burlington, IA., three sons- Andrew (Amy) Rogers of Monmouth, IL., Dan Rogers of Lomax, IL., Isaac (Jessie) Rogers of LaHarpe, IL., seven grandchildren- Darren, Dillon, and Mallory Krow, Derek, Garrett, Kasen, and Kyler Rogers, and one sister- Randy (Jim) Nixon of Dallas City, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson - Korbin Rogers.

The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday December 27, 2013 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe with Father Tom Sydlick officiating. Private burial will be in the Crane Cemetery, near Lomax, at a later date. Friends may call after 1:00 p.m. Thursday at Banks & Beals, where the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. A memorial fund has been established for Henderson County Hospice.
