Jack E. "Ozzie" Nelson

Jack E. Ozzie Nelson, 65 of Stronghurst, Illinois, died at 2:52 a.m. Friday March 1, 2013 in the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa. He was born April 2, 1947 in Monmouth, Illinois the son of Jack M. and Mildred M. Rogers Nelson. On September 3, 1966, he married Carolyn Buttler in Biggsville, Illinois.

Mr. Nelson served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He then was employed by Burlington Northern/Santa Fe Railroad for thirty years, retiring in 2008. He was a member of the Maintenance Way Union and the American Legion.

Survivors include his wife, two sons- Mike Nelson of Stronghurst, IL., Chad Nelson of Gladstone, IL., one granddaughter- Amber Nelson, and one brother- Gary Ben Nelson of Burlington, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents.

The Graveside Service for Ozzie will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday May 24, 2013 in the Biggsville Cemetery with Rev.Steve Minkler officiating. Military Rites will be conducted by the Stronghurst American Legion.
