Ora A. Hughes

Mrs. Ora A. Hughes, 96, of Blandinsville, Illinois, passed away Sunday, October 9, 2011 at 11:50 PM at the LaHarpe-Davier Health Care Center.

She was born on October 20, 1914,in Indian Valley, Virginia, the daughter of George and Ellen McPeak. They moved to Illinois when she was six months old.

She married John Lester Hughes of Blandinsville, and lived there all of her life. She loved her family, was an avid gardener, raising and selling strawberries for many years.

She is survived by two children, Roger (Linda) Hughes of LaHarpe, IL and Cathy (Tim) Smith of Colchester, IL, 11 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband on March 21, 1988, 2 children Eldon Hughes and Edith Rodeffer, 2 great-grandchildren, 3 brothers, 1 sister and 3 half sisters.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 AM Thursday, October 13, 2011 at the Hillsboro Cemetery, rural Blandinsville, IL with Nate McCarter officiating. No visitation is planned. A memorial fund has been established for the LaHarpe-Davier Health Care Center. Banks and Beals Funeral Home of LaHarpe is assisting with arrangements.
