Geneva A. Huffman

Geneva Ann Huffman, 85, of rural Niota, IL passed away at 6:25 PM Sunday, January 29, 2017 at her home.

Born on July 17, 1931 in Mendon, MO, Geneva was the daughter of Christian and Gertrude Joseph Gladbach. On October 8, 1949 she married Curtis Huffman in Marceline, MO. He preceded her in death on November 30, 1992.

Geneva was a homemaker her whole life, raising fourteen children. Later in life she babysat her grandchildren. She was a lover of animals, especially chickens and cats. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dallas City, IL where she was active in the Ladies Altar and Rosary Society.

Survivors include eleven children: John Huffman of Indian Grove, MO, Roger (Myra) Huffman of Blue Springs, MO, Diane (Rich) Dorrell of Marceline, MO, Melinda (Randy) Johnson of Fort Madison, IA, Terri (David) May of Chillicothe, MO, Ron (Laura) Huffman of Schaumburg, IL, Barb (Phil) Logan of Dallas City, Martin Huffman of Niota, Donna (Jim) Sholl of Fort Madison, Earl (Teresa) Huffman of Niota, Marion Huffman of Niota; 23 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter and her brother: Walter Gladbach.

Geneva was preceded in death by her husband; Three sons: Larry, Rick, and Wayne; one grandson: Ryan Johnson; 13 brothers and sisters, including her twin sister Genevieve.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, February 2, 2017 at The Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dallas City with Father Tony Trosley Officiating. Burial will follow in the Harris Cemetery near Dallas City. Friends may call anytime after 3:00 PM on Wednesday at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City where the rosary will be recited at 5:30 followed by a visitation with the family until 8:00 PM. A memorial fund has been established for the Ladies Altar and Rosary Society of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
