Obituary

Mr. Donald Hinman, 81, of Niota, Illinois passed away Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at 2:03 pm at the Fort Madison Community Hospital.

He was born on March 12, 1929 in Fort Madison, the son of Orville and Evelyn Privia Hinman. On September 4, 1948 he married E. Joan Zern in Dallas City, Illinois.

Mr. Hinman was a 1948 graduate of the Dallas City High School. He worked for the Santa Fe Railroad for 13 years and then worked for Chevron Chemical Co. in Fort Madison for 23 years. He retired as a shift supervisor in 1985.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and motorcycling. He was a member of the ILIAMO Camping Club of Keokuk, Iowa and the Goldwing Road Riders Club of Burlington.

He is survived by his wife, 2 daughters, Kathryn Duncan of Niota and Deborah Edmiston of Davenport, Iowa, 1 son, Mathew Donald Hinman of Loose Creek, Missouri, 9 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 1 sister, Mary Alice Bader.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday, October 22, 2010 at the Harris Cemetery near Dallas City. There will be no visitation. A memorial has been established for the Fort Madison Community Hospital. Banks & Beals Funeral Home, Dallas City is in charge of arrangements.
