Obituary

Mrs. Hazel A. Andrew, 100, of Dallas City, Illinois passed away Thursday, April 21, 2011, at 6:25 p.m., at her daughter, Sherrill Gilpins home, in Dallas City. She was born February 4, 1911, in Lima, IL, the daughter of Alpheus and Minnie Eshom Poulter. On February 9, 1929 Hazel married Otto Gilbert Andrew. He preceded her in death on March 15, 1979.

Early in life Hazel worked at the Lomax Canning Factory. She then worked as a cook at the Dallas City Elementary School for 22 years. She was a member of the former Osage Christian Church in Dallas City. She enjoyed quilting and canning.

Surviving are two daughters, Sherrill Gilpin of Dallas City, and Jeanine Rosenboom of Fort Madison, Iowa, 8 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by one son Robert Andrew, 2 daughters, Darlene Booten, and Phyliss Black, 2 brothers and 4 sisters.

Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, April 25, 2011 at Banks and Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City, with Father Tony Trosley officiating. Burial will be in the New Providence Cemetery, Ursa, Illinois. The family will meet with friends Monday from noon until time of services, at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established for the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dallas City.
