Mr. Haven D. Vaughn, 86, of rural Lomax, Illinois passed away Tuesday, October 7, 2008 at his home.

He was born February 7, 1922 near Lomax, the son of Paul Dean and Helen Pence Vaughn.
On August 2, 1942 he married Betty Myers in Dallas City, Illinois.

Mr. Vaughn graduated from the Dallas City High School in 1940. He farmed all of his life on the farm where he was born and raised. He enjoyed caring for his lawn, hunting, fishing and traveling. He was a member of the Lomax Christian Church.

From the age of 22 to 84, he served on various boards including, Dallas City School Board, was a Dallas City Commissioner, Henderson County Farm Bureau, Henderson County Board of Supervisors, member and director of Hend - Co - Hills, Western Illinois Electric Cooperative in Carthage, IL, Western Illinois Power Cooperative in Jacksonville, IL, Soyland Power Cooperative in Decatur, IL and the Continental Cooperative Services in Harrisburg, PA.

Surviving are his wife, one daughter, Joyce (Randol) DeSotel of Dallas City, one son, Jeffrey Vaughn of rural Lomax, two grandchildren, Tyler DeSotel and Jill Rigg, five great-grandchildren, Marie and Kate DeSotel and Avery, Ella and Owen Rigg, one brother Donald (Jeanne) Vaughn of rural Lomax, one sister-in-law, Sydney Hosford of Dallas City and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Hubert Vaughn.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, October 11, 2008 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City with Rev. Peggy Stott officiating. Burial will be at a later date in the Crane Cemetery near Lomax. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 1:00 P.M. until time of services. A memorial fund has been established for the Henderson County Health Department Hospice. .
