Harley D. Palmer, 88, of LaHarpe, Illinois, passed away at 12:00 a.m. Monday, February 6, 2023 at his home.

Harley was born January 30, 1935 in Downing, Missouri the son of Luel and Lillian (Smith) Palmer. On May 18, 1956 he married Shirley "Rusty" Palmer in Long Beach, California. She preceded him in death December 18, 2015.

Harley was a graduate of Terre Haute High School, Terre Haute, Illinois. Following high school he served in the U.S. Navy from 1952 - 1956. He worked as mechanic and an upholsterer all of his life. In his younger years, he enjoyed spending time on the lake, water skiing and square dancing with his wife.

Mr. Palmer is survived by one daughter: Cindy Palmer of LaHarpe; two step-children: Darlene Robbins of Las Vegas and Ray Robbins of Arizona; twelve grandchildren: Michael Palmer, Bobby Swift, Shannon Bischel, Marty Burdg, Cassie Burdg, Samantha Poque, Michelle Allison, Daniel Bowman, Dawn Robbins, Conrad Robbins, Sarah Robinson and Jason Robbins; numerous great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; three step-children: Lee Robbins, Dee Robbins and Michael Hardman; one grandson: Jason Burdge; one sister: Lois Bennett and two brothers: Hollis and Boyd "Whitey" Palmer.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00p.m. Saturday, March 18 , 2023 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe. Burial with Military Rites will follow in the Terre Haute Cemetery.

The family will meet with friends for one hour prior to the service.
