Virgil H. "Bud" Henry
Mr. Virgil H. Bud Henry, 80, of Blandinsville, Illinois passed away Thursday, November 18, 2010 at 4:40 A.M. at the Memorial Hospital in Springfield, Illinois. He was born September 2, 1930 in Blandinsville, Illinois, the son of Andrew Harold and Carrie Hazel Gossage Henry. On June 9, 1951 he married E. Carol Sanders in Macomb, Illinois.
Mr. Henry served in the US Army during the Korean War. He owned and operated the Blandinsville Locker Service for many years and was custodian at the Northwestern Grade School in Good Hope, Illinois. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Blandinsville and the Blandinsville American Legion Post and Lions Club. He served on the board of the Blandinsville Twin Oaks Country Club and the Blandin House Museum. He loved to golf, hunt and fish.
He is survived by his wife, 2 daughters, Lynn Kern of Blandinsville and Cheryl (Tim) Flint of Troy, Illinois, 5 grandchildren, Joshua (Christy) Kern, Jeremy Kern, Zachary Kern, Justin Flint, and Ashley Flint and 2 great-grandchildren, Brayden and Mikayla Kern.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 sister and 1 brother.
Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, November 22, 2010 at the Blandinsville United Methodist Church with Pastor Don Riley officiating. Burial with military rites will be in the Glade City Cemetery, Blandinsville. Friends may call after 3:00 P.M. Sunday at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe where the family will meet with friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Sunday. A memorial fund has been established for the Blandin House Museum or the Blandinsville United Methodist Church.
