Gwen R. Morrison, age 79 of Gladstone, Illinois, passed away at 5:32 p.m. Thursday, November 16, 2017 at OSF Medical Center in Peoria. She was born August 13, 1938 in Jackson, Wyoming, the daughter of Walter and Madolyn Darrah Steingraber. On August 23, 1985, she married Tom Morrison in Moran, Wyoming.
Mrs. Morrison lived most of her childhood in the Treasure Island, Florida area, moving to Burlington, Iowa in 1956. She also lived in Oquawka, Illinois, moving to Gladstone in 1986. She was the Activity Director and later Resident Manager of Autumn Heights in Burlington for many years. She loved gardening, landscaping, crafts, shopping, the beach and most importantly, her grandchildren. She was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her husband, one daughter, Angela Torrance of Biggsville, IL, four sons, Bradley Thye of Nashville, TN, Bret Thye of Sargent, TX, Jerald (Leslie) Thye of Guymon, OK, James Thye of Nichols, IA, two stepsons, John (Shelley) Morrison of Carman, IL, Rod (Shirley) Morrison of Cameron, MO, thirteen grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, two sisters, Jana Elmore of Henderson TX, Bonnie Glaze of Treasure Island, FL, and two brothers, Buck Steingraber of Laporte, MN, and Tommy Streingraber of Sebring, FL. She was preceded in death by her parents.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2017 followed by a Celebration Of Life service at 6:30 p.m. at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst.
