Glen Warren Boyd, 100, of LaHarpe, Illinois, passed away at 9:00 a.m. Thursday, August 17, 2023 at his home.

Glen was born August 10, 1923, at home near Lacrosse, Illinois the son of Walter and Olive (Wade) Boyd. On January 5, 1947 he married Esther I. Miller in Macomb. She preceded him in death March 15, 2018.

Survivors include three children: Lana Boyd, Mike (Janet) Boyd and Jan (Max) Burg; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one brother: Jerald (Clara Jean) Boyd and two sisters: Joyce Traser and Carol Allen.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; one brother: Clifford Boyd and one sister: Mary Jane Stevens.

Glen was a 1941 graduate of LaHarpe High School. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Weaver as a Motor Machinist during World War II. Following his military service he worked for a short time in Macomb, Illinois and in the ship yards in Tacoma, Washington. He returned to LaHarpe area, where he farmed all of his life. He also worked as a rural mail carrier for 30 years.

Glen obtained his pilot's license and loved to fly. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and was a participant in the 2011 Honor Flight trip to Washington, D.C. He was a member of the LaHarpe Union Church, LaHarpe American Legion, LaHarpe Masonic Lodge and the Macomb VFW.

The funeral service for Glen will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 21, 2023 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe with Rev. Bruce Goettsche officiating. Burial with Military Rites, presented by the LaHarpe American Legion, will follow in LaHarpe Cemetery.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 9:45 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home, with Masonic Rites held at 10:45 a.m.
