Geraldine Tate Meeks, 91, of LaHarpe, Illinois, passed away at 11:05 a.m. Monday, December 18, 2023 at The Elms in Macomb, Illinois.

Geraldine was born March 7, 1932 in Dallas City, Illinois, the daughter of Grover Cleveland and Frances (Crosley) Hoskins. In 1953, she married Kenneth Tate. They later divorced. On August 12, 2000 she married Leon Meeks in LaHarpe. He preceded her in death on November 7, 2002.

Geraldine lived in Lomax, Illinois, for many years and moved to the LaHarpe area in 1977. She worked for Lamont, Ltd., in Burlington, Iowa, for 20 years, retiring in 1987. She was a member of the Moose Club and Eagles Club both in Burlington.

Survivors include two daughters: Jackie (Larry) Ferguson of Blandinsville, Illinois and Cindy Warden of Farmington, Missouri; seven grandchildren: Tim Ferguson, Aaron Ferguson, Brandi Upchurch, Kenny Warden, Nicole Warden, Niki Williams and Megan Warden and several great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband, Leon, she was preceded in death by four sisters: Goldie Worley, Elizabeth Smith, Joan Powelson and Donna Powelson and five brothers: Albert, John, Joe, Grover and Harvey Hoskins and her son-in-law, Brian Warden.

The funeral service for Geraldine will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 21, 2023 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe with her grandson, Aaron Ferguson officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until time of services at the funeral home.

Following the services her body will be donated to science.
