Georgia L. Cox, 85, of LaHarpe, Illinois passed away Friday, August 30, 2019 at the LaHarpe-Davier Health Care Center in LaHarpe.

She was born May 19, 1934 in Kahoka, Missouri the daughter of Raymond and Dolly Ward Sheffler. On August 12, 1952 she married Merrill Robert Link. He died October 19, 1975. She married Bennett "Benny" Cox on February 14, 1976. He preceded her in death on April 18, 2015.

Georgia was a 61 year member of the LaHarpe American Legion Auxiliary where she served as Vice President. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Fountain Green Club 16, Disco Embroidery Club and the LaHarpe Christian Church. She enjoyed reading, gardening and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals Fan.

She is survived by one son, Danny Link of LaHarpe; two daughters, Brenda (Steve) Peterburs of Morton, Illinois and Tracy (Jeff) McDowell of LaHarpe; sixteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and two brothers, Larry (Linda) Sheffler of Ellston, Iowa and Terry (Jacque) Sheffler of Olathe, Kansas.

She was preceded in death by her husbands; son, Mark Link; two daughters, Selia "Susie" Schmidt and Lila McKeown; two brothers, Richard and Kenneth Sheffler; four sisters, Patricia "TC" Sherer, Norma "Cookie" Hodges, two in infancy, Carlene and Selia Joy Sheffler.

The funeral for Mrs. Cox will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at the LaHarpe Christian Church with Nate McCarter officiating. Burial will be held at a later date in the LaHarpe Cemetery. Friends may call after 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 3, at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe where the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. A memorial fund has been established for the LaHarpe Christian Church or the LaHarpe American Legion Auxiliary.
