George A. "G" Johnson, 50, of Mt. Sterling, Illinois, formerly of Colusa, Illinois, passed away at 9:45 PM Friday, June 23, 2023 at his home.

G was born December 22, 1972 in Ft. Madison, Iowa, the son of George A. and Bonnie (Coulter) Johnson Sr. He married Layla Melton. They later divorced.

Mr. Johnson was a 1991 graduate of Chatham-Glenwood High School, Chatham, Illinois. He served in the U.S. Army. He attended the HVAC Technician Training Program at Vatterott College. He spent a majority of his life working in maintenance at Methode in Carthage, Illinois and later at Roquette in Keokuk, Iowa.

He enjoyed collecting Hot Wheels, riding bikes and playing disc golf. He was a member of the Mt. Sterling American Legion.

Survivors include two daughters: Avery and Autumn Johnson both of Warsaw, Illinois; one son: John Peterman of Ft. Madison; one brother: Tom (Lisa) Wagner of Santa Barbara, California; two sisters: Brenda Wagner and Jennifer (Greg) Harl both of Colusa and many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A celebration of life will be held a later date.
