Mrs. Genevieve I. "Genny" Petty, 89, of Macomb, IL, formerly of LaHarpe, IL passed away at 9:30 AM Sunday, September 3, 2017 at the Wesley Village in Macomb.

She was born March 30, 1928 in Barry, IL, the daughter of Chester and Vila Booth Sparrow. On November 6, 1948, she married Clarence "Sam" Petty in Plymouth, IL. He preceded her in death on October 6, 1996.

She and her husband farmed and raised chickens. She loved cats and was always taking in strays. She enjoyed playing cards, knitting and crocheting. She especially enjoyed her nieces and nephews.

Surviving are 2 step-granddaughters, several step-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and one step-son, James R. Petty.

A Graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, September 15 , 2017 at the LaHarpe Cemetery with Nate McCarter officiating. A memorial fund has been established. Cremation has been entrusted to Banks & Beals Funeral Home.
