Mr. Garry Wayne Jarvis, 77, of Stronghurst, IL passed away 12:00PM June 23, 2014 at Oaklane Nursing & Rehab in Stronghurst.

Garry was born January 19, 1937 in Ft. Madison, IA the son of Ray William and Gracie Ethel Porter Jarvis. On August 17, 1958 he married Juanita Ochsner in Dallas City, IL.

Earlier in life Mr. Jarvis worked for Bell Printing, Ochsner Brothers and C.E. Neff. In 1963 he began working at Modern Welding in Burlington, IA where he worked for 44years, retiring in 2007. Garry served as a Henderson County Auxiliary Policeman, was member of the MST Fire Deptartment and the Henderson County Old Tymers. He enjoyed cars and trains.

Survivors include his wife, Juanita, four sons, Larry Jarvis of Macomb, IL, Jerry (Crystal) Jarvis of Glendale, WI, Terry (Sukie) Jarvis of Portland, OR and Randy Jarvis of McAllen, TX and Stronghurst, five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one son, John Lee Jarvis, one sister, Margaret Fraise and one brother, Gurden Jarvis.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 27, 2014 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst with Rev. Steve Hartman officiating. Burial will be held in the Stronghurst Cemetery. Friends may call after 2:00p.m. Thursday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00p.m. A memorial fund has been established for Oaklane Nursing & Rehab and the Stronghurst United Methodist Church.
