Galen "Mike" Link

Mr. Galen Mike Link, 66, of Rock Island, Illinois passed away peacefully at 2:15 PM Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at the Davenport Manor Care in Davenport, Iowa. He was born on April 2, 1948 in Mt. Pleasant, IA the son of Kenneth and Idaline Burford Link.

Mike believed life is about family and friends. He was very proud to be from a large, yet close family and loved every member deeply and unconditionally. Mike was rich in friendships. He made friends easily and kept them close to his heart, counting among them every walk of life. he did not grant friendship based on what you were, but rather who you were. If you were good to Mike and those he loved, you were his friend. He always said, Rights Right. Wrongs Wrong. Fairs Fair. He was a simple man that believed in a simple world. He also said, I like to have my fun and boy, did he. He enjoyed life focusing on the good parts and making the best of all the rest. Mike is loved dearly and will be missed by a multitude of family and friends. That is what lifes about.

Mike is survived by two ex-wives, Linda Link and Diane Link, one son, Gerard (Kim) Link, one daughter, Jessica (Matt) Mosley and four grandchildren, Austin, Brent, Sarah, and William, one great-grandchild, Kaden, 3 brothers, Rodney (Mary) Link, Sidney (Denice) Link, Ezra (Tracey) Link, four sisters, Kennetta (Earl) Scott, Miriam (Don) Mullison, Twyla (Paul) Lingard, and Julie (Rich) Gacke, 23 nephews and nieces, 34 great nephews and nieces, and 7 great-great nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two daughters, Ginger and Katie Jo Link, a nephew and a great-niece.

Services will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, July 12, 2014 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe, with Paul Lingard officiating. Burial with military rites will follow in the LaHarpe Cemetery. Friends may call any time after 2:00 PM Friday, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established for improvements at Manor Care.
