Mrs. G. Marcine Rhea, 78, of Niota, Illinois passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at 1:35 A.M. at the Kindred Hospital in St. Petersburg, FL.
She was born on March 7, 1933 in Keokuk, Iowa, the daughter of Lawrence J. and Thelma Hancock Denmire. On October 3, 1951 she married Jamie W. Rhea in Dallas City, Illinois.
Marcine was a 1950 graduate of the Fort Madison High School. In 1951 she was a Fort Madison Rodeo Queen candidate, sponsored by the Fort Madison Saddle Club. Prior to her marriage she worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Paul Schreves in Fort Madison. From 1966 - 1970 she worked at the Hancock County Jail in Carthage, Illinois where she cooked and was the night and weekend radio operator. She also served as a Cub Scout Leader in Dallas City.
She is survived by her husband, 2 sons, Randal Steven Rhea of Sandusky, Iowa and Richard Shawn (Deborah) Rhea of Elyria, Ohio, 1 daughter, Sheri Lynn (Terry) Long of Carthage, Illinois, 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and 1 sister.
Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City. Burial will be in the Myers Cemetery, rural Niota, Illinois. Friends may call after 3:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home where the family will meet with friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M., Monday. A memorial fund has been established for the American Heart association or the American Lung Association.
