Frank J Carnes' Obituary
Mr. Franklin James Carnes, 62 of Hamilton, IL pased away Thursday, August 29, 2013 near Lick Creek, IL. He was born on July 5, 1951 in Burlington, IA. His father was Jesse James Jess Carnes. On June 6, 1970 he married Georgia B. Rusty Cox in Monmouth, IL. She preceded him in death on January 22, 2005.
He is survived by : Daughter - Bobbi Carnes-Holsted (Steve) of Hamilton, Illinois.
Son - Sergeant First Class William Bill Carnes (Kathi) of Rockledge, Georgia.
Grandchildren James Carnes & Micah Holsted of Hamilton, Illinois.
Jessi, Colton and Devin Carnes of Rockledge, Georgia.
Siblings VeeJay Cox (Laura) of Cumming, Georgia.
Paula Carnes of Macomb, Illinois.
Paul Carnes (Debbie) of Oquaka, Illinois.
Teena McKinney (Jim) of Biggsville, Illinois.
Maryann Borden (David) of Oakland, California.
Jesse Carnes of Gladstone, Illinois.

Many, many, many Beloved nieces, nephews and family
Frank grew up in Gladstone, Illinois. He married Georgia B Rusty Cox on June 6, 1970.
He enlisted in the United States Marine Corp November, 1969, served in Vietnam until 1971.
He was honorably discharged from Cherry Point, North Carolina in 1971. While in service he was awarded a Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal.
The couple then made their home in Hamilton, Illinois. He worked at Carbide before becoming a contractor and opening his own business. (Carnes Construction)
Frank was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and actively involved in the Hamilton Lions Club and American Legion.
Frank was currently serving the VFW at the State level as District 8 Commander and also Hamilton Post #5256 as the Adjutant-Quartermaster. He has served as Junior-Vice and Senior Vice-Commander for District 8 as well as numerous other offices within the local post. He has received both All-State Quarter Master and All-State Commander achievements for Post 5256. He also previously held offices in the Hamilton Lions Club as President and 1st,2nd and 3rd Vice President.
Frank and Rusty were active in the Illiamo Kennel Club during the 1970s.
Services will be held at 3:00 PM Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe, IL. Burial with military honors will be in the LaHarpe Cemetery. Friends may call after 3:00 PM Monday at the funeral home where the family will meet with friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. A memorial fund has been established for his grandchildrens education
