Frances Petersen passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2022, at the Good Samaritan Home in Grand Island, Nebraska. She was born in Brookfield, Missouri on December 25, 1924, to George and Dulcie Bunch. She married Raleigh Stein. They later divorced. She was then married to John Petersen until his passing on May 6, 2013.
Frances loved cooking, sewing, baking cakes and gardening. She was incredibly involved in her churches and women's groups. Frances attended First Christian Church in Dallas City, Illinois and after moving she attended First Baptist Church in Chapman, Nebraska. But most of all she loved being with her family, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She went to work straight out of high school at Sheaffer Pen Company in Fort Madison, Iowa and later at the Iowa Ordinance Plant in Burlington, Iowa for 25 years.
Four daughters survive her, Lana (Roger) Van Hying (Las Vegas, Nevada), Jana Cunningham (Glendale, Arizona), Becky (Mike) Harmon (China Grove, North Carolina) and Lori (Mike) Kraft (Doniphan, Nebraska), one stepdaughter Dixie Stein (California)and two sisters Norma Brandon and Kay Sherwood both of Springfield, Illinois. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Frances was preceded in death by her beloved husband, one infant daughter, two stepchildren, one great granddaughter, one brother and three sisters.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday May 23, 2022, at Banks and Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City, Illinois where a viewing will be held from 10am until time of service. A grave side service will follow at Harris Cemetery near Dallas City.
