Mrs. Fern E. Todd, 83, of Lomax, Illinois passed away Sunday, September 28, 2008 at 8:45 A.M. at the Memorial Hospital in Carthage, Illinois.

She was born October 13, 1924 in Terre Haute, Illinois, the daughter of Jess and Edna Wright Tate. In 1947 she married Chuck Todd. He died May 13, 1984.

Mrs. Todd lived most of her life in Lomax and was a resident of the LaHarpe-Davier Health Care Center for the past 6 months. She had worked at the Lomax Canning Factory, the Riverview Supper Club and The Grill in Dallas City and the Iowa Army Ammunitions Plant. She enjoyed quilting, playing cards and working in her yard.

She is survived by four sons, Sheldon (Sandy) Bennett, Merlin (Nora) Todd, Jack (Dixie) Todd and Danny (Terry) Todd all of Lomax and one daughter, Jan Todd of Lomax, 25 grandchildren, 64 great-grandchildren, 9 great-great-grandchildren and one brother, Jack Tate of Fort Madison, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her husband, one son, Rex Bennett, five brothers, Jim, Ivan, Romane, Kenny and Wendell Tate and one sister, Opal Deitch.

Services will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, October 1, 2008 at the Lomax Church of the Nazarene with Rev. John Bremer officiating. Burial will be in the Terre Haute Cemetery. There will be no formal family visitation but friends may call at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City between 3:00 and 8:00 PM Tuesday. A memorial fund has been established for the Lomax Ambulance Service or to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
