Evelyn R. "Sally" Young, 83, of LaHarpe, IL passed away Thursday, July 12, 2018 at 7:08 PM at the Countryview Care Center in Macomb, IL.

She was born May 27, 1935 in Burlington, IA the daughter of William V and Mary Connor Sliger. She was first married to William L. Akers, Sr. They later divorced. On January 1, 1964 she married Carl A. Young in Carthage, IL. He preceded her in death on June 15, 1998.

She raised horses and hunting dogs. She enjoyed caring for other people and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. She attended the Agape Church in LaHarpe.

She is survived by 1 son, William L. "Bill" (Kathy) Akers, Jr. of rural Blandinsville, IL, 2 grandsons, Bill (Angel) Akers of Mediapolis, IA and Justin (Jenna) Akers of rural Blandinsville, and 2 great-grandchildren, Kilie and Keegan Akers.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl, 1 brother, William "Bud" Sliger, 1 sister, Leota Bright and her parents.
