Evelyn Butler, 101, of Macomb, Illinois, formerly of Chicago and Des Plaines, Illinois, passed away at 9:15 p.m. Thursday, October 9, 2025 at The Elms in Macomb, Illinois.

Evelyn was born March 2, 1924 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of George and Marie "Mae" (Havel) Sonneker. On May 18, 1946 she married Joe Butler. He preceded her in death.

Mrs. Butler was a graduate of Hawthorne High School in Chicago. She worked all of her life in accounting and bookkeeping. She enjoyed shopping, watching games shows, especially the Price Is Right, playing the lottery and traveling with her sister and brother-in-law: Jean and Ben. She took great pride in being an independent woman. Most of all, Evelyn was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Survivors include two daughters: Cathy (Alan) McConnell and Wendy (John) Cordes all of Blandinsville, Illinois; five grandchildren: Patrick (Kelly) Cordes, Megan (Demetrois Giokaris) Cordes, Lucas (Angela) McConnell, Jamie (Kevin) Koehn and Kacie Santiago and eleven great-grandchildren: Nick, Shane, Alaina, Ryan, Roland, Nathaniel, June, Michael, Savannah, Evelyn Mae and Jayden.

Besides her husband, Joe, she was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters and brothers-in-law: Dorothy and Ken Smith and Jean and Ben Ughetti.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Saturday, October 18, 2025 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe, final prayers will be offered at 5:00 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, October 24, 2025 at St. Martha's Catholic Church in Morton Grove, Illinois. Burial will follow at Bohemian National Cemetery, Chicago.
