Obituary

Etta Louise Stromquist, 73, of Lomax, IL passed away at 5:47 PM Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington, IA after a courageous fight with cancer.

She was born July 11, 1942 in Moline, IL, the daughter of Quentin and Connie Hedges Stromquist.

After graduating from Orion High School she worked various jobs in the Quad Cities and Burlington, IA. She attended Moline Beauty School and later Robert Morris College in Carthage, Il. She retired from Conifers in Burlington. She was an avid reader, loved animals and decorating her home. Etta had a gentle soul and was a great friend to all. She will be missed.

She is survived by two loving sons, Shawn (Darla) Stromquist and Tony Stromquist both of Lomax, seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, one sister, Debbie Carlson (Larry) of Burlington, WI, one aunt, Winifred Johnson of Burlington, IA along with nieces, cousins and many friends throughout the United States.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

The family will meet with friends Saturday, November 7, 2015 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City followed by a memorial service at 8:00 PM with Rev. Ronald Jewett officiating. A private burial will be held at a later date in Crane Cemetery near Lomax. A memorial fund has been established for the Great River Hospice House, Oak Lane Nursing & Rehab, Stronghurst, IL. Condolences may be left at banksandbeals.com.
