Erin Kay Dowell, age 53, of Stronghurst, Illinois, passed away Friday June 7, 2019 near Donnellson, Iowa. She was born March 17, 1966, in Peoria, Illinois, and was the daughter of Sid and Diane Grigsby Dowell.

Erin was a graduate of Southern High School in Stronghurst, and Southeastern Community College in West Burlington, Iowa. She was employed at the Henderson County Health Department, Gladstone, Illinois. A registered nurse, she had also worked for several area doctors and hospitals, throughout her career in healthcare. Erin was active in charity work, and enjoyed traveling, music, cooking, and especially loved spending time with her grandson, Jaxson.

Survivors include one son, Devin Stivers of Quincy, IL, one daughter, Courtney (Chadwick) Shiech of Berea, KY, her father, Sid Dowell of Stronghurst, and her grandson, Jaxson Shiech.

Erin was preceded in death by her mother, one sister, Robin Dowell-Druffel, three brothers, in infancy, her step mother, Judy Melvin Dowell, and a special friend, Julie Mason.

Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Friday at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst. The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday June 15, 2019 at Banks & Beals, with Pastor Lisa Unger officiating. Burial will be in the Stronghurst Cemetery, at a later date..
