Elizabeth M. Rankin, 84, of rural Lomax, IL, passed away at 4:30 a.m. Friday, March 30, 2018 at Oak Lane Nursing & Rehab in Stronghurst. She was born December 18, 1933, near Wapello, IA, in the country home of her parents, Jesse J. and Clara E. Bigger Landrum. On June 11, 1954, she married Delbert Rankin in Stronghurst. He preceded her in death on May 30, 2011.
Mrs. Rankin graduated from Stronghurst High School in 1951, and Gem City Business College in Quincy in 1952. She assisted her husband in the operation of the family farm, and also was employed at H&R Block in Burlington, IA for twenty eight years. She was past president of the Henderson County Home Extension, Stronghurst American Legion Auxiliary, and 14 th District American Legion Auxiliary. She was a volunteer at Oak Lane Nursing & Rehab for many years and was a member, and served as Treasurer, of the Terre Haute United Methodist Church for many years.
Survivors include one sister-in-law, Patricia Rankin of rural Media, IL, several cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst with Rev. Lee Unger officiating. Burial will be in the Stronghurst Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Banks & Beals. Memorials have been established for Terre Haute United Methodist Church Building Fund or the Stronghurst American Legion Auxiliary Girls State Fund.
