Eldon E. "Bugs" Link
Mr. Eldon E. Bugs Link, 96, of Quincy, IL formerly of LaHarpe, IL passed away at 5:34 PM Monday, June 25, 2012 at the Sunset Home in Quincy.
He was born June 22, 1916 in Courtenay, N. Dakota, the son of Sidney Chester and Safrona Hazel McCord Link. On August 1, 1938 he married Hazel Brewer in Burlington, IA.
Mr. Link lived in LaHarpe for many years where he worked on the Mealey farm. In 1970 he moved to Quincy where he worked for Prairie Farms until retiring in 2004. At Prairie Farms, he cared for their horses and drove the milk wagon in many parades. He also took care of the Shriners Belgian Hitch horses in Quincy. He enjoyed playing pool, bowling and playing cards.
Surviving are his wife, 2 sons, Edwin Butch Link of Prairie City, IL and David Tad Link of Michigan City, IN, 2 daughters, Carolyn Sue Babe Link of Flora, IL and Becky Jean Holman of Quincy, IL, 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren and 1 sister, Helen Ruth White of Carlinville, IL.
He was preceded in death by 3 grandchildren, 4 sisters, Velma Link in infancy, Lola Cooper, Katherine Glisan and Idel Kreps and 4 brothers, Vernon Link in infancy, John, Herman and Kenneth Link.
Services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, June 29, 2012 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe with Mike Duffy officiating. Burial will be in the LaHarpe Cemetery. Friends may call after 4:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home where the family will meet with friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Thursday. A memorial fund has been established for the Shriners Childrens Hospital in St. Louis, MO.
