Edwin E. "Butch" Link
Mr. Edwin E. Butch Link, 77, of Prairie City, IL passed away at 5:45 PM Saturday, August 6, 2016 at his home.
He was born February 12, 1939 in LaHarpe, Illinois, the son of Eldon Bugs and Hazel Brewer Link. On September 3, 1960 he married Madeline C. Garrett in Carthage, Illinois.
Mr. Link was a 1957 graduate of the LaHarpe High School and served in the US Army from 1957 until 1965. He worked as an auto mechanic for Fred Gibb Chevrolet, LaHarpe, Pollmeier Trucking, also in LaHarpe, the Chevrolet dealership in Bushnell and the Pontiac dealership in Macomb. He retired from Midwest Central Products in Bushnell, IL in 1997.
He enjoyed following Nascar, watching stock car races, working on small engines and going to auctions.
He is survived by his wife, 3 daughters, Cathy (Tony) Sikes of Avon, IL, Ava (Rodney) Havens of Prairie City, and Christina Link of Macomb, 2 sons, Stephen (Lorie) Link of Canton, IL and Bradley (Kelli) Link of Prairie City, 10 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, 1 brother, David Tad (Connie) Link of Michigan City, IN and 2 sisters, Carolyn Sue Babe Link of Flora, IL and Becky Jean (Mike) Holman of Quincy, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 step-grandson, David Walker.
Graveside services, with military rites, will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at the LaHarpe Cemetery with Pastor Ted Shirley officiating. Friends may call at Banks & Beals Funeral home in LaHarpe after 3:00 PM Tuesday where the family will meet with friends from 5:00 until 7:00 PM Tuesday. A memorial fund has been established for the Harbor Light Hospice of Galesburg..
