Mr. Edward W. Walker, 87, of Dallas City, Illinois passed away Saturday, April 30, 2011 at the LaHarpe-Davier Health Care Center, LaHarpe, Illinois.

He was born on July 29, 1923 in Union City, Tennessee, the son of Lester and Erma Wayne Rawls Walker. On July 11, 1945 he married Helen Marie Mason. She preceded him in death on February 14, 2006.

Mr. Walker served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a mechanic and drove a truck for Steve Rankin Trucking.

He is survived by 2 daughters, Edna Carlson of Dallas City and Betty Deitrick of Phoenix, Arizona, 2 sons, Larry Walker of Lomax, Illinois and James Walker of Dallas City, 9 grandchildren, 1 sister, Earlene Walker of Mississippi and 1 brother Marion Walker of Springfield, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his wife, 1 son, Bobby, 1 grandson, 2 sisters and 2 brothers.

Burial was held at 10:00 AM Monday, May 2, 2011 in the Durham Cemetery. Military rites were performed by the Dallas City American Legion. Memorials may be made to the Blessing Hospice Hancock County or the LaHarpe-Davier Health Care Centers Activity Fund. Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City assisted with the arrangements.
