Edward Luton, 92, of Blandinsville, Illinois, passed away Saturday, September 24 ^th , 2022, at peace in the comfort of his home. Ed was born at home slightly south of Sciota, Illinois, to Maurice and Ruth Woods Luton. Ed was the 3 ^rd of 7 children. He had many memories of farm life, the joys and sorrows that go hand in hand with a modest farm life where he learned life skills, hard work, patience and moral values.

Ed graduated from La Harpe High School and enlisted in the Marines. He was honorably discharged in 1952. He returned home and married Lois Lucille Breiner in May of that year at the Breiner farm in Blandinsville, Illinois. Ed moved his family to Phoenix, AZ, in 1955. Within a short time he began his career with Air Research which later became Garrett/Honeywell. He continued his work career while taking college courses to become an aeronautics engineer.

During Ed and Lois's (Shorty) time in Arizona they frequently shared their love of the outdoors with family and friends. They enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting and boating. They also enjoyed traveling to many states in the country, site seeing and enjoying the local scenery and food.

Ed was an avid gardener and after retirement he grew a large productive garden in Tempe, AZ. In 2000 Ed and Shorty moved back to their roots in Illinois. Both Ed and Shorty poured their love into a beaten down overgrown piece of dirt and turned it into a park like home. Ed soon went into competition with surrounding neighbors growing some of the most productive gardens around, the old fashioned way.

He spent his final years caring for his wife Shorty and taking her to and from Dialysis and other doctor appointments. Ed and Shorty were very dedicated to each other and made time to remain steadfast friends with people they met along their journey.

Edward is preceded in death by his wife, parents, brothers Earl and Floyd Luton and sisters, Shirley Luton, Rita Powelson, Vira Hibbard.

Survivors include his sister Elsie Dunlop, of Kirksville, MO, Sister-in-law Beverly Oge of Ft. Madison, IA, son Wayne (Shannon) Luton of Payson, AZ, daughter Elaine (Mark) Wimbush of Reno, NV, grandchildren Nannette (Al) Adame of Phoenix, AZ, Corene (Tim) Jones of Paisley, OR, Nathan (Lindsay) Luton of Mesa, AZ, Shayne (Pete) Kuzmich of Reno, NV and great grand children Matthew and Jessica Adame, Ian and Aubrie Luton, Cameron Jones, Violet and Iris Kuzmich.

He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who he greatly admired.

Friends may call after 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 6 , 2022 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe, where the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Cremation will be entrusted to Banks & Beals following the visitation.

Graveside services with Military Rites will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 8 , 2022 at Good Hope Cemetery, Good Hope, Illinois.
