Mr. Earl H. Cox, 74, of LaHarpe, IL passed away Friday, October 28, 2016 at the Memorial Hospital in Carthage, IL.

He was born September 29, 1942 in Avon, IL the son of George W. and Alice Shaw Cox. On October 27, 1986, he married Marita Kritz in Tacoma, WA.

Mr Cox was a veteran of the Vietnam war. He served in the US Army for 26 years, retiring as a Master Sergeant. Following his military career he managed the Speed Lube in Macomb, Burlington and Fort Madison. Earl was a member of the LaHarpe American Legion and was active in the Dexter, MO American Legion for the time he lived there.

Surviving are his wife, Marita, 8 children, Kimberly Su Cox of Hartsburg, IL, Travis Newton of Hartsburg, IL, Tatiana Marita Cox of LaHarpe, Pamula Su Cox of Spanaway, WA, Earl Cox Jr. of Dexter, MO, Angela Cox of Donnellson, IA, Tom (Tiffani) White of Burlington and Kerstin Quattromini of Burlington, 7 grandchildren, Izabella Taylor Cox, Luke Dylan White, Gwen White, Alyssa Uhler, Alexander Uhler, Alyvia Uhler and Dakota Cox, and 1 brother, Lawrence Cox of Galesburg, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Georgia Carnes, brother V.J. Cox and 2 infant brothers and 1 infant sister.

Services will be held at 10:00am Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe with Rev Jim Clayton officiating. Burial with military honors will be in the Rock Island National Cemetery. The family will meet with friends from 6:00 until 8:00pm Monday at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established for the LaHarpe Ambulance Service.
