Dorothy G. Clampitt, 95, of Dallas City, IL passed away at 10:35 AM Sunday, October 15, 2017, at the Fort Madison Community Hospital.

Dorothy was born on May 23, 1922 in Bowen, IL the daughter of Linus and Daisy Hartman Stambach. She married Alex Paul Clampitt in San Bernardino, CA. He preceded her in death.

Dorothy was a 1940 graduate of the Bowen High School. She received her teaching certificate from WIU and taught at the Augusta Elementary School. She worked as a cook at the Avon Elementary School, as well as Ruthie's Place in Dallas City. She enjoyed sewing and being a seamstress.

Survivors include one son: L. Rhett Clampitt of Dallas City; Daughter-in-Law: Nancy Clampitt of Fort Madison; Granddaughter: Denae (Chris) Rutherford of Fort Madison; great-granddaughter: Roxanna Rutherford of Fort Madison; one sister Joan (Vincil "Toot") Boyd of Avon, IL and many nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; two children: A. Paul Clampitt III and infant son: David Clampitt and two brothers: Donald and Rhett.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, October 18, 2017 in the Calvary Cemetery in Carthage, IL with Rev. Jim Clayton Officiating. No visitation is planned. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the LaHarpe-Davier Health Care Center or the Hancock County Ambulance Service.
