Mrs. Dora M. Gooden, 92, of Blandinsville, IL passed away at 10:57 AM Friday, October 23, 2015 at the Heartland Health Care Center in Macomb, IL.

She was born January 16, 1923 in Dallas City, IL, the daughter of Silas and Ella Pearl Perry Allen. On March 6, 1944 she married Harry E. Gooden in LaHarpe. He preceded her in death on May 26, 1978.

Mrs. Gooden was a graduate of LaHarpe High School. She worked as a cook at the former Newlan Nursing Home in Blandinsville. She attended the Day Health at McDonough District Hospital. Dora enjoyed sewing, quilting, doing crafts and ceramics. She was a member of the Eagles in Macomb since 1976 and the Macomb Moose Lodge.

Surviving are 3 daughters, Loreta Chaney of Bushnell, IL, Marilyn Naylor of Blandinsville, and Marlene Kay (Larry) Downing of Augusta, IL, 3 sons, Myron Gooden of Blandinsville, Irwin Gooden of Macomb and Marshall (Lisa) Gooden of Blandinsville, 1 step-daughter, Martha Lee Setser of LaPorte, IN, 18 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, grandson, Aaron Danner, granddaughter, Tonya Gooden, 3 great-grandchildren, 4 sisters, Violet Darrah, Betty Torrence, Mary Gilmore and Edith Highsmith and 3 brothers, Floyd, Lyle and George Allen.

Services will be held at 2:00PM Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe with Rev. Gordon Blankenship officiating. Burial will be in the LaHarpe Cemetery. The family will meet with friends Tuesday, from 1:00PM until time of services. A memorial fund has been established for the Blandinsville Fire and Rescue.
