Mr. Donald Eugene Anguish, 84, of Dallas City, IL passed away at 4:00 a.m. Thursday, August 21, 2014 at his home.
Don was born on March 8, 1930 in Dallas City, the son of W. F. and Grace Loesch Anguish. On October 3, 1951 he married Ila Kathryn Rhea in Dallas City.
Don served with Illinois National Guard and was a Korean War Veteran. He attended Carthage College and GEM City Business College. Don farmed, was an insurance broker, operated a Ford Dealership in Dallas City and was Hancock County Deputy Sheriff from 1966 until 1970. He served as President and chairman of the board of the Bank of Dallas City. Mr. Anguish also served as Mayor of Dallas City. He enjoyed flying and held a private pilots license for many years. He was a member of the Dallas City American Legion, First Christian Church, Dallas City, LaHarpe Masonic Lodge and the Quincy Consistory.
He is survived by his wife, Ila, four nieces and one nephew.
Don was preceded in death by twin sons in infancy, stepson, David Lair, brother, Raymond Anguish and two sisters, Alice Kincaid and Esther Steffey
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 25, 2014 at the First Christian Church in Dallas City with Pastor Will Fowler officiating. Burial with Military Rites will be held in Harris Cemetery, Dallas City. Friends may call after 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City where Masonic Rites will be held at 4:00 p.m. followed by visitation with the family until 6:00 p.m. A memorial fund has been established for the First Christian Church.
