Mrs. Dolores E. Gilpin, 79, of Pontoosuc, IL passed away at 12:30 a.m. Thursday, July 2, 2015 at her home.

She was born near Pontoosuc on January 22, 1936 the daughter of Keith and Nellie Price Ballinger. On January 23, 1954 she married Frank L. Gilpin in Niota, IL.

Dolores was a graduate of the Dallas City High School. She worked at Sheaffer Pen in Fort Madison, IA for 35 years, retiring in 1998. She was a member of the Pontoosuc Community Church.

Mrs. Gilpin is survived by her husband, Frank, one daughter, Brenda (Rich) Dusek of Orchard Lake, MI, one son, Mike Gilpin of Dallas City, IL and one grandson, Omar Rashid of Orchard Lake, MI.

She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Layla Rashid, her brother, Glenn Ballinger and her parents.

Services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at the First Christian Church in Dallas City with Rev. Jim Luder officiating. Burial will be in the Harris Cemetery near Dallas City. Friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Monday at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. A memorial fund has been established for the American Stroke Association.
