Diana Marlene Francis Shaw, 80, died at OSF Hospital in Peoria, Illinois on June 27 ^th , 2018. She was born on October 2, 1937 in Moulton, Iowa, the daughter of Austin M. and Marietta L. (Horn) Francis.

In her early years, she lived in Burlington, IA. Where she attended Flint Hill Elementary through the 3 ^rd grade. Then, later moved to Lomax, IL in 1946. She excelled in grade school and graduated salutatorian from DCCHS in 1955. She was active in cheerleading, music, and scholastic honors. Her work ethic was impressive. Over the years, she worked in the offices of Benner Tea, Murray IronWorks, Rohr Aircraft and Nauvoo Blue Cheese Factory.

In 1957, she married Howard T. Shaw at Dallas City Methodist Church. They moved to San Diego, CA where Howard was based at the US Naval Base. In 1960 they returned to Illinois to help with the Shaw family farm.

Diana loved antique jewelry, porcelain hand figurines, going with her husband to estate auctions, doing lunch with family and friends, sewing and most of all traveling to new places. Diana had an enduring love for her family and enjoyed networking via social media with her family. Diana was known by her dad as "ding" or "dingles and in later years was known to all as "gramma louie". Being fashionably late was a well known trait of hers and she made the best baked beans in the world.

Survivors include her husband, two daughters, Thais (Ricky) Harmon Lomax, IL, Marla Vazquez, Dallas City, IL and one son, Derek (Jeanette) Shaw, Mt. Pleasant, IA. Eleven Grandchildren - Trevor & Natalie Harmon, Craig Fleece, Mark & Tara Vazquez, Fawn (Brandon) Vazquez, Santana Brissette, Elysia (Justin) Fenton-Vazquez, Ryan (Jill) Shaw, Jenna Shaw, Savannah (Sean) Bennett, Kitt Rice. Ten Great Grandchildren - Kieran, Corbin, Raylan, Jayse, Kai'ave, Taelor, Desarye, Zaiyah, Cruze, Axton. Two sisters, Carolyn (Howard) Sutton, Lomax, IL and Sarah Oriano, Riverside, IA, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one granddaughter, Amanda Shaw, and two sisters, Christi M. Francis Doran and Leslie A. Francis Roberts.

Services will be held at 2:00PM Sunday, July 1, 2018 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City with Rev. Jim Luder officiating. Burial will be in the Carman Cemetery, followed by a reception at the Art Center in Burlington, IA. Friends may call after 3:00PM Saturday at he funeral home where the family will meet with friends from 5:00 until 7:00PM. A memorial fund has been established for the Art Center of Burlington and the Dallas City American Legion.
