Dennis R. Peterson, 69, of Batavia, Iowa, passed away at 4:25 a.m. Tuesday February 25, 2020 in the V.A. Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa. He was born September 29, 1950 in LaHarpe, Illinois, the son of Kenneth and Zoe Mathers Peterson.

Dennis was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving from 1970 until 1973. He was employed by Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad, where he worked as a toll taker at the Fort Madison bridge for several years.

Survivors include one daughter, Donna (Jeremy Walter) Peterson of Raritan, IL, one sister, Diana (Bill) Kent of Media, IL, two grandchildren, and three nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents and one son Paul Peterson.

No services are planned at this time. Burial will be in the Walnut Grove Cemetery near Media. Banks & Beals Funeral Home of Stronghurst is assisting the family.
