David C. Van Fleet Sr.

David C. Van Fleet Sr., age 87 of Blandinsville, Illinois, died at 1:50 A.M. Thursday March 27, 2008 in the Oak Lane Nursing & Rehab Center in Stronghurst, Illinois. He was born December 8, 1920 in Tennessee, Illinois, the son of George and Myrtle Logan Van Fleet. On December 26, 1940, he married Katharyn Carter in Kahoka, Missouri. She preceded him in death on October 4, 2006.

Mr. Van Fleet farmed in the Colchester, Tennessee, and Blandinsville areas for many years. He had also worked at the Colchester Stone Company, Blandinsville Elevator, and was an auctioneer for many years.

Survivors include three daughters - Nina (Bill) Fraise of Donnellson, IA., Pat (Robert) Boyer of Blandinsville, Margie (Leon) Solomon of Macomb, IL., two sons - Jack (Pam) Van Fleet of LaHarpe, IL., David (JoAnn) Van Fleet Jr. of Dallas City, Illinois, 13 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 1 great great granddaughter, and one sister - Mary Bartley of Macomb. He was preceded in death by his wife, 2 brothers - Frank and Jackie, and by two sisters - Emma Micklick, and Margaret VanBroker.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday March 31, 2008 in the Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe with Rev. Larry Menschel and Robert Tillman officiating. Burial will be in the Hutchinson Cemetery near Tennessee, IL. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Sunday at Banks & Beals. Memorials have been established for the Grace Bible Church of Dallas City, and Oak Lane Nursing & Rehab of Stronghurst.
