Mr. David Lynn Collins, 53, of Bend, Oregon, formerly of Terre Haute, Illinois passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2008 at the St. Charles Hospital in Bend.

He was born November 20, 1954 in LaHarpe, Illinois, the son of Wesley and Lois Bennett Collins. On September 8, 1978 he married Kathy Whitney in Moline, Illinois.

He was a 1972 graduate of LaHarpe High School and attended Blackhawk College in Moline. In 1980 he earned a bachelors degree in engineering from Oregon Institute of Technology. He worked for Federal Express in Bend and owned and operated D.P.S. Services. He enjoyed camping, reading and spending time with friends and family. He was a member of the LaHarpe Christian Church.

He is survived by his wife, one son Benjamin of Corvallis, Oregon, one daughter, Sarah of Portland, Oregon, his parents of LaHarpe and one brother, Larry of Valrico, Florida.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, February 3, 2008 at the LaHarpe Christian Church with Darren Beachy officiating. Burial will be held at a later date in the LaHarpe Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established. Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe is assisting with local arrangements. A memorial service was also held in Bend, Oregon on Saturday, January 26, 2008.
