Daniel M. McVey Sr.

Daniel Myron McVey, Sr. age 75 of Little York, Illinois died at 1:00 p.m. Sunday July 3, 2011 at his home. He was born February 4, 1936 near Rozetta, Illinois the son of Joseph and Martha Collins McVey. On November 24, 1956, he married Patricia Jones in Biggsville, IL. She preceded him in death on April 20, 2010.

Mr. McVey served in the United States Navy from 1955 to 1959. He worked as a carpenter for the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners Local in Peoria, IL. for many years. He was an avid bowler, and enjoyed hunting, spending time with his family, and his annual trips to Oregon to visit relatives. He attended the Faith Bible Church in Oquawka, IL.

Survivors include three sons- Daniel (Cheryl) McVey Jr. of Oquawka, Rodney(Diane) McVey of North Henderson, IL., Tim (Theresa) McVey of Little York, IL., ten grandchildren, three step grandchildren, one great grandson, his twin brother- Donald (Clara) McVey of Biggsville, and two sisters- Melva Essex and Bonnie Wankyrl, both of Oquawka. He was preceded in death by his wife, one son- Eddie McVey, one sister- Martha McVey, and three brothers- Glen, Dean and Joseph McVey.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday July 9, 2011 in the Faith Bible Church in Oquawka with Rev. Mark Baker officiating. Burial will be in the Biggsville Cemetery at a later date. No visitation is planned. A memorial fund has been established for the Faith Bible Church of Oquawka.
