Obituary

Mr. Dane C. Wiele, 58, of Lomax, Illinois passed away Friday, November 12, 2010 at 3:45 P.M. at the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington, Iowa.

He was born on December 16, 1951 in Burlington, Iowa, the son of Roger C. and Shirley Leaverton Wiele.

Mr. Wiele was born and raised in Burlington. His family moved to New York where he lived for a few years, graduating from the Alfred Almond Central High School in Almond, New York in 1970. He then served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War. Following his military service he returned to the Burlington area and in 1975 began working for Hendricks Sales and Service, now Dadants, in Dallas City, Illinois where he was still currently employed. He also owned and operated DCW Mowing Service.

He was a member of the American Legion, was an avid gardener, St. Louis Cardinals fan, Iowa Hawkeye fan and enjoyed attending the Burlington Bees games.

He is survived by 2 step-sons, Lee Seiser and Jerry Akers both of Carthage, Illinois, 2 step-daughters, Deanna Sullivan of Keokuk, Iowa and Robin Peterson of Oquawka, Illinois, 11 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, 1 brother, David Wiele of Greenwood, Missouri, 2 sisters, Debra Greene and Diane Vollmer both of Burlington, 1 nephew, Daniel Blackwell and 1 niece, Danielle Greene.

He was preceded in death by his friend and companion Charlotte Peterson, 1 brother, Dan Wiele and his parents.

Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, November 18, 2010 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City with Algie Peterson officiating. Burial with Military Rites will be in the National Cemetery in Keokuk. Friends may call after 4:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home where the family will meet with friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Wednesday. A memorial fund has been established for Camp Eastman or the Dallas City Veterans Memorial.
