Mr. Dale David Lair, 88, of LaHarpe, Illinois formerly of Dallas City, Illinois passed away Monday, January 10, 2011 at 2:35 PM at the LaHarpe-Davier Health Care Center.

He was born in Decorra, Illinois near Stronghurst, on March 8, 1922 the son of Dave B. and Clara E. Lair. The family moved to Dallas City in 1933.

On June 22, 1941 Dale married Emily D. Bradfield in Kahoka, Missouri. She survives along with their son, Edward (and wife Sharon) and two grandchildren, Gwendolyn Anne and Scott Edward Lair all of Atlanta, Missouri. Also surviving are two brothers, Clarence Johnny Lair of Lomax, Illinois and Richard Lair of Fort Madison, Iowa, two sisters, Edith Robinson of Monmouth, Illinois and Grace E. Watts of Dallas City and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister.

Dale was a member of the First Christian Church of Dallas City where he served many years as a deacon until 2005 and a member of the Golden Age Club of Dallas City. He enjoyed the outdoors and raising a garden. In his first working years Dale cut buttons in a factory. From January 1944 - April 1946 Dale served in the US Marines and was stationed in Pearl Harbor. He then worked for the Service Pipeline for five years. In 1956 he started working for Housewright Construction Company where he continued until retiring in 1984. He was a 55 year member of The United Laborers #231.

In honoring his wishes there will be no services. The body will be cremated and private interment will be in Harris Cemetery, Dallas City at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Christian Church, The Golden Age Club or The Alzheimers Association.
