Mr. Craig A. Harman, 63, of Dallas City, IL passed away at 7:14 AM Thursday, August 22, 2013 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, IA.
He was born November 4, 1949 in LaHarpe, IL, the son of Dick and Ruby Dell Lyttaker Harman. On November 17, 1990 Craig married Doris Jean Siegrist.
Craig graduated in 1967 from Dallas City High School. He served in the U.S. Army as a E.O.D. specialist during the Vietnam War. Mr. Harman worked for BNSF, the I.A.A.P, and worked 31 years at J.I. Case. He was a member of UAW Local 807, where he served several years as the Recording Secretary. He was a member of the Dallas City American Legion and had served on the Dallas City Fire Department. Craig was an avid fan of NHRA drag racing and the Fighting Illini.
He is survived by his wife, one daughter, Nichole Harman of Burlington, IA, one son, Colin (Roseanna) Harman of Wichita, KS; three grandchildren, Logan, Kayana and Brady; two brothers, Mike (Becky) Harman of Iowa City, IA and Wade Harman of West Burlington, IA; 6 nieces and nephews and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Tracy Lynn and one sister-in-law.
Services for Mr. Harman will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City, IL with Rev. Jim Luder officiating. Burial, with military rites, will be in the Harris Cemetery near Dallas City. Friends may call after 3:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home, where the family will meet with friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. A memorial fund has been established.
