Ruby F. Crabill

Mrs. Ruby Frances Crabill, 83, of Mount Zion, IL formerly of Carthage and Fountain Green, IL passed away 9:54PM Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at he the home of her son, John Crabill, in Mount Zion.

Ruby was born January 23, 1930 near Stronghurst, IL the daughter of Draper and Nancy Farris Quesenberry. On December 18, 1947 she married John F. Crabill in LaHarpe, IL. He preceded her in death on May 4, 2003.

She is survived by 3 sons, John of Mt. Zion, Jerry of Macomb, IL and Gene of Cape Coral, FL, 4 grandsons, 2 great-grandchildren, one brother, Clinton Quesenberry of Dallas City, IL and one sister, Margie Wilde of Sun City, AZ.
She was preceded in death by her husband, 5 sisters and 2 brothers.

She attended the Old Bedford School and the LaHarpe High School. Ruby enjoyed spending her free time gardening, working in the yard, watching birds and just being outside. She was a member of the Webster Community Church, as well as the VFW Auxiliary and the Eagles Auxiliary both of Carthage. She enjoyed watching her favorite TV show, Dr. Phil. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The last five years spent in Mt Zion were exciting and rewarding for her. She got to see her grandson, Christian, grow up.She still worked a garden for a couple of years till she could no longer go outside, giving the neighbors plenty of vegetables. She learned all about the game of golf and became a fan of Phil Michelson. She had favorites and some she did not like as much. In the last few years she watched every tournament on TV. She was never as proud as when Christian was competing and winning in events all over the country. She would read every word in the sports pages every day to find Christians name and when he won the city amateur championship, the trophy was taller than her. She sent newspaper headline clippings to everyone she knew, of that event.

She attended the Moundford Methodist Church in Decatur while living in Mt Zion and became good friends with Pastor Bob who came to see her at home after she could no longer attend. She especially loved the music and seeing all the babies at church. She read and studied her bible every day and was a fan of the Hagee Ministries TV program every afternoon.
Very Special Thank You to Diane, Debbie, Jim, Heather and all the hospice staff at DMH in Decatur. The are all angels and were and are a blessing.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 until 3:00 PM Monday, September 9, 2013 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe where services will be held at 3:00 PM Monday with Robert Tillman officiating. Burial will be in the LaHarpe Cemetery.
