Chester Douglas Wyatt

Chester Douglas Wyatt, age 84 of Lomax, Illinois died at 11:15 P.M Saturday November 21, 2009 at the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy. He was born November 18, 1925, the son of William Forest and Daisy Wyatt. He married Jacqueline Brown on July 6, 1947, divorcing in 1982.

Chester served in the Army in WWII serving in the European Theater(Germany). Upon his discharge, Chester joined his father in operation of Wyatts Dairy Farm in Lomax Illinois for the next 50 years until 1995 at which time he retired to the Veterans Home in Quincy. Chester was a member of the Lomax Christian Church.

Chesters passion for farming drove him through the years of freezing winters, summer droughts, and weak milk prices to milk cows twice daily and double cropping the farm most of its years of operation. He loved family and hosted family reunions for his extended family over the years on the farm. Chester believed his role in life was to feed the world.

Survivors include five children, Doug (Lois) Wyatt of Dallas City, IL, Rick (Kim) Wyatt of Lomax, IL, Don (Brenda) Wyatt of Lomax, IL, Linda (Kevin) McQuade of Seattle, WA, Robert Wyatt of Burlington, IA, 3 granddaughters, 1 grandson, 2 step grandsons, eight great grandchildren and 5 step great grandchildren and his brother and sister-in-law Bill and Mary Wyatt of Benton, IL. He was preceded in death by a son Daniel Wyatt, his parents, one sister and one brother, Darlene Griggs and William (Bud) Wyatt and his ex wife Jacqueline,.

Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City with Rev. Peggy Stott officiating. Burial with Military Rites will be in the Crane Cemetery, near Lomax. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home , Wednesday from 9:00 until time of services. A memorial has been established for the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy and the Lomax Ambulance.
